We are happy to let you know that we have reopened the doors. While we look for new tenants, the pub is being managed by our local community.
At this time we are only serving drinks, except on Sunday’s. We are currently serving Sunday lunch from 12pm to 4pm. Do book a table to avoid disappointment!

Important Announcement
Open & Business as Usual
We regret to inform you that our tenants, Mark & Michelle Firby, have decided to terminate their tenancy of the George & Dragon as of 31st August 2023.
The board of HCP Ltd are extremely grateful for the hard work that Mark, Michelle and their team of staff have put into running the pub over the last year. Clearly the well-publicised dramatic increases in the cost of energy and food & drink supplies have made their task very hard.
The HCP management board will meet on Monday 14th August to decide how to react to this news. We will make every effort to minimise disruption and to keep the pub open. We will look to appoint a new tenant as quickly as possible and will of course keep all our members and supporters informed on how we are proceeding with securing the future of the George and Dragon.
In the short term our members and villagers will rally round to keep the pub open, or if it has to close then this will be for as short a period as possible. We have already had offers from volunteers to work behind the bar and the current staff are keen to stay on.

Food & Drink
We always try and locally source our ingredients and with an emphasis on seasonality. The menus include lite bites, big plates, Sunday lunch as well as a kids menu.
We are a destination pub for anyone that loves real ale. We are renowned for our great range of cask beers that mostly come from local and regional micro-breweries. We have up to 8 guest beers for you to sample, as well as lager, a nitro-stout and an IPA.
We also carry a wine menu, a varied selection of spirits, accompanying mixers and soft drinks!
We currently only offer Sunday lunches.
We will look to return to our full menu as soon as possible.

We're a dog friendly pub
The George & Dragon is a dog friendly pub in the village of Hudswell
We welcome four legged friends and have water & treats available to ensure they’re as comfortable as you are, during your visit!
Dogs are allowed throughout the pub, as we want both you and your dog to feel relaxed, safe, and happy at all times during your visit. We do ask that you use a lead at all times, both inside the pub and outside within the garden and patio areas.
